Growing up in Wells Maine created my earliest interests in the ocean. My family lived a short walk from the Atlantic and I could see it from my bedroom window. We moved inland when I was 12 to a small farm. I'm a "Maine-ah" but also lived in Newport Rhode Island’s Yachting village in an upstairs downstairs duplex one block from Narragansett Bay. My bedroom was my studio and I slept in the half story at the top of the house (pic below). When I married Marylena we moved to a small cottage in Riverside Rhode Island on the edge of a beautiful estuary on Narragansett Bay and my studio moved to the basement. My family moved to New Hampshire in 2008 for my job at Plymouth State University. Hard not to miss the ocean but it is a two hour drive to see the big blue.

Charlie Kernaghan (Google this guy if you don’t know who he is) said ”Who will save the precious memories in life that mean nothing because we can’t make money off them? That must be the role of the artist, to save those precious things.” My goal as an artist is to make those precious things and as an educator to assist people on the road to creating them.
